Tales of the Cocktail 2019 in the French Quarter has already come to an end, but what a week it was! Between perusing the Bitters Bookstore and enjoying rum tastings over conversation at our Corner Bar, we’re leaving Tales inspired by the bar industry movers and shakers we met along the way. Keep reading for a peek at the highlights!

NOLA Vibes: This week was solid evidence that there’s nothing quite like relaxing and enjoying a cocktail or two in New Orleans. We spent the weekend in the French Quarter soaking up as much good food, music and cocktail samples as we could, and we’re still game for more. But don’t worry, we’ll be back!  

The House of ANGOSTURA Corner Bar: Tales of the Cocktail attendees popped in Saturday afternoon to check out our Corner Bar in the lobby of the Royal Sonesta. Our team had a blast behind the bar giving everyone a taste of Trinidad as they served Trinidad Sours, made with ANGOSTURA aromatic bitters, rye, orgeat and lemon juice, and Liming Hours, made with ANGOSTURA aromatic bitters, London dry gin, sparkling wine, lime juice, simple syrup and mint. And after a great afternoon with you all, we remain convinced that there’s no one out there more spirited than the folks who enjoy ANGOSTURA.

The Spirited Awards: Certainly, no Tales is complete without celebrating the best of the bar industry as they’re recognized for their innovation and cocktail creativity at the Spirited Awards. This year, we were proud to sponsor the Best International Bar Team Award to support a group of mixologists who are working every day to make bartending better and more cutting-edge. Cheers to the winners—the Licorería Limantour team in Mexico City—on their team’s impressive work and well-deserved win!

That’s a wrap on Tales of The Cocktail 2019 and we can’t thank you enough for another year of killer cocktails and great company. See you back on Bourbon Street next year!

NOLA–don’t call it a comeback–but we’re headed back to the city of Sazeracs and Mardi Gras to join the best of the industry for another round of Tales of the Cocktail (TOTC) from July 16-21. With seminars diving into industry trends for brands and bar teams alike, immersive tasting rooms, exciting activations and the Spirited Awards, this gathering is one we look forward to each year. We especially look forward to seeing the innovative ways bartenders and beverage brands incorporate ANGOSTURA®aromatic and orange bitters their cocktail creations.

This year, attendees can head to the Bitters Bookstore from July 16-20 to pick up some light reading material and a few bottles of ANGOSTURA aromatic and orange bitters for purchase. There, you’ll also find a display of our fan favorite mini bitters bottles. Remember: these mini bottles are exclusive to events and aren’t available for retail sale, so you’ll want to run over to the Royal Sonesta to grab a few (to keep in your back pocket or use on your flight home) before they’re gone!After a few days of dashing around town, you can find us in the lobby of the Royal Sonesta (TOTC headquarters for the week) where our team will be paying homage to our Trinidadian roots.We’ll be serving the Trinidad Sour, a bitters-forward classic also featuring rye, orgeat and lemon juice; and the Liming Hour, complete with gin, sparkling wine, simple syrup, mint and a generous helping of ANGOSTURA aromatic bitters.

Visit us on Saturday, July 20, from 3-5 p.m. for a taste of Trinidad crafted by The House of ANGOSTURA’s chief mixologist, Raymond Edwards. For those who haven’t had the chance to meet Raymond, after more than a decade in the industry and a stint at the World Spirits Academy, he has mastered the versatility of the portfolio of products in the House of ANGOSTURA®, accentuating flavor or balance in any cocktail. Even while behind the bar creating unique and memorable cocktails, Raymond looks forward to opportunities to educate and inspire bartenders and share his love of the craft – so, be sure to stop by to say hello!

Later that night, we’ll be suiting up for the annual Spirited Awards and we’re jazzed to once again sponsor the award for Best International Bar Team, which recognizes the best collection of talent working in an International bar today, including bartenders, barbacks, servers and front of house. We’re also especially excited to cheer on The House of ANGOSTURA’s very own Global Brand Ambassador, Daniyel Jones, who is a finalist for the Best American Brand Ambassador Award, which recognizes the International ambassador whose creative use of brand communication, combined with personality, has had the most impact on the promotion of drink brands through engaging the trade and executing compelling education and seminars. Anyone who has ever met Daniyel not only knows he is a master behind the bar but has witnessed firsthand his passion for spreading the ANGOSTURA love and the spirit of Trinidad globally, and our industry is certainly better for it.
