South African contestant Dino Bastia took home the honors for Best Rum Cocktail at the 2016 Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge. His cocktail, The Sanctuary, embraces the tropical theme with notes of pineapple juice and fresh lime juice. It was a hit with the judges.
- 1 oz Angostura® 5 Yr. Rum
- 1/2 oz Pinotage Syrup
- 1 oz Pineapple Juice
- 7 dashes Angostura® aromatic bitters
- 1/3 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- Dehydrated Pineapple Slice
- Combine all ingredients in a tin and shake with hard ice.
- Double strain into chilled coupette.
- Garnish with dehydrated pineapple slice.
