The House of Angostura’s premium aged rum, Angostura 1824®, has been awarded a Double Gold Medal in an Aged Rum Tasting hosted by well-known epicurian authority, The Fifty Best.
Angostura 1824® is an exquisite blend of gold rums aged for a minimum of 12 years, distilled by Trinidad’s only rum distillery. It was one of 16 select rums evaluated for the distinguished Fifty Best “Best Aged Rum” awards for 2017. Contenders were assessed by a pre-qualified panel of judges who blind-tasted the rums and rated them individually on a 1-5 point scoring system, with five being the best.
Angostura 1824® is one of the Caribbean’s most awarded rums, taking home more than 60 medals between 2010 and 2016 from prestigious competitions including the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the World Rum Awards, the Rum Master Awards, the World Spirits Awards, the International Wine and Spirit Competition and more.
“Angostura 1824® is a rum of fine distinction and superb quality,” says Chief Executive Officer Genevieve Jodhan: “It celebrates the birth of the House of Angostura® in the year 1824, and commemorates our founder, Dr. J.G.B. Siegert creator of the world finest bitters: ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters. We are very pleased to have received this Double Gold from The Fifty Best.”
